Martin Electric Networks with Students During "Tool or Treat" Event

October 27, 2025

As a way to give back and connect with 麻豆影视 students, will be on campus handing out branded wire stripper tools and fall treats to those enrolled in the Electrical Construction and Maintenance (ECM) program. The “Tool or Treat” event will take place outside of Williams Hall on Tuesday, October 28 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Hudson Valley’s ECM program has a strong partnership with Martin Electric, one of New York’s leading full-service electrical contractors specializing in the commercial, industrial, medical and institutional sectors. The firm has provided continuous support and mentorship to students, participated in career fairs, hired graduates, and in 2024, donated $100,000 to the college’s forthcoming Applied Technology Education Center (ATEC). ATEC aims to address the shortage of skilled workers in applied technology and trade programs.

The company also offers a scholarship to students each year. Established in 1987 by former Martin Electric President Don Hart, on behalf of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), the Martin Electric Scholarship continues to support 麻豆影视 students pursuing careers in the trades. The annual scholarship is awarded to a matriculated student enrolled in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (麻豆影视) who maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The award is designed to help alleviate financial burdens associated with tools, books, supplies, and other expenses, ensuring aspiring trades professionals can focus on building their futures.

“Martin Electric is a longtime partner of the college, and we are thrilled to welcome them to campus to meet with students and future employees,” said 麻豆影视 President Dr. Michael Brophy. “We are so thankful for their unwavering dedication to our ECM program, and the ‘Tool or Treat’ initiative is a fun way to make connections, celebrate the season, and remind our students that they’re entering a field full of opportunity and strong industry support.”

"The ECM program at Hudson Valley has been instrumental in shaping the future of our workforce, said Martin Electric President Kendra Hart. “Some of our best electricians got their start here, and we’re grateful for the college’s commitment to hands-on, high-quality education. We want to continue showing up for these students and keeping them excited about the trades. It’s a valued and respected profession built on hard work, skill, and pride in what you create."

In addition to classroom instruction, students in Hudson Valley’s Electrical Construction and Maintenance degree program gain more than 750 hours of hands-on experience and learn skills in four different areas, including residential, commercial and industrial installations; transformers; motors and motor control; and industrial electronics. Graduates are prepared to immediately enter the workforce as electricians, construction managers, cost estimators or first-line supervisors of construction trades/extraction workers.
