Rensselaer County Legislature Approves Â鶹ӰÊÓ’s 2026–27 Budget

July 15, 2026

The Rensselaer County Legislature unanimously approved Â鶹ӰÊÓ’s 2026–27 operating budget during its July 13 meeting, supporting the college’s continued growth and commitment to providing affordable, high-quality education.

The approved budget totals $122.1 million, an increase of $10.5 million (9.4%) over the current fiscal year. The increase reflects projected enrollment growth for the fifth consecutive year.

“This budget supports Hudson Valley’s continued momentum and our commitment to student success across the region,” said President Michael Brophy. “We are investing in our students by expanding our academic offerings, bolstering student support services and adding more than 20 full-time faculty members to support our growing enrollment. We are grateful to the Rensselaer County Legislature for its continued partnership and investment in our mission.”

For fiscal year 2026–27, enrollment is projected to reach 7,779 full-time equivalent (FTE) students, an increase of 459 FTEs (6.3%) over the prior year budget. Credit enrollment is expected to grow to 10,961 students in degree and certificate programs and credit-bearing courses. Hudson Valley also serves nearly 6,500 students annually through non-credit workforce training and community education programs.

After holding tuition flat for three consecutive years, Hudson Valley will implement a modest tuition adjustment for the 2026–27 academic year. Full-time New York State residents will pay $2,654.50 per semester, an increase of $126.50. Approximately 75% of students receive state or federal financial aid, grants or scholarships to help offset college costs, and students from low- and middle-income families may qualify to attend tuition-free through available financial aid programs.

In addition to providing an exceptional value, Hudson Valley is now the largest community college in upstate New York, offering more than 100 degree and certificate programs in business, liberal arts, healthcare, Â鶹ӰÊÓ and other high-demand fields. These programs prepare students for successful careers or seamless transfer to advanced study at four-year colleges and universities.
