1. Navigate to and select “High School Student.”
2. If you’re new to the system, select “+ Start New Application” to create your profile.
3. If you already have a Voyager account, log in using your �鶹Ӱ�� credentials.
   • Never create a new account if you already have one. Doing so will delay the recovery process. If you need help accessing your account, submit a request on Voyager or email cihs@hvcc.edu.
4. Enter your legal name and a personal email address (not your school email).
   • We recommend avoiding school-issued emails, as they often block external messages.
5. Select “Submit.”
6. You’ll receive an email with the subject “�鶹Ӱ�� – Verify Email.”
   • Select the link in the email to verify your address.
   • If you don’t see it, check your junk/spam folder.
7. Once verified, you’ll be prompted to complete your student profile.
   • Note: Security questions are used to set your �鶹Ӱ�� account password. Choose answers you’ll remember exactly.
8. After completing your profile, read and sign the Student Agreement, then select “Submit” to view course offerings.

Within one business hour of creating your Voyager account, you’ll receive an email with your �鶹Ӱ�� username and password setup instructions. If you don’t receive the email, fill out the CIHS Username Request form to request it.

Please do not create a new account—this will delay the process of regaining access.

Go to and follow the instructions to recover your username or reset your password.

If you’ve forgotten your security question answers, you have two options:

When creating a , follow these guidelines for the “High School” field.

Do not enter “Homeschool” as your high school.
Homeschooled students must obtain course approval from the entity they submit their quarterly/annual reports to (e.g., a local school district or BOCES).

If your reporting is done through a local school district or BOCES:

• Select the school district to which you submit reports.
• After you request a course, the district will receive an automatic notification asking for approval.
• You may follow up with your district contact to ensure they complete the approval process.

If you do not see your school/district listed:

• Select “My High School is Not Listed.”
• For High School Name, enter the name of the school district, BOCES, or other official reporting entity.
• For Counselor Name, enter the name and email of the administrator you report to.
  • Note: This must be an official from the reporting entity—not a parent. They will be added to our system to approve your request.

• General CIHS course offerings are listed on the CIHS Course Offerings webpage.
• For the most up-to-date course section information (days, times, modality), log in to .

If you’re interested in a course that’s not listed, email cihs@hvcc.edu to check whether it’s available through CIHS.

Requesting Classes

1. Log in to  and select “Apply for Classes.”
2. Choose the appropriate tab:
   1. “Class(es) in Your High School” – for in-person courses taught at your school.
   2. “Online/Remote Classes” – for fully online or remote �鶹Ӱ�� courses.
3. Use the drop-down menu to select the term you want to search.
4. Browse course offerings and check the box next to the course you’d like to request.
5. Scroll down and select “Apply for Selected.”
   • Do not request multiple sections of the same course—this may prevent registration.
   • If your requested section is full, you’ll be automatically moved to an open section with the same modality/time. If no sections are available, you’ll be notified.
6. To review your course requests, select the “My Class Application(s)” tab.

Understanding the Registration Process

• After submitting your request, your course status will show as “Requested.”
  • Your request will be sent to your high school via daily automated updates.
  • You can view your request status at any time under “My Class Applications.”
  • If your course hasn’t been reviewed in a timely manner, contact your school.
  • If your school says they haven’t received your request, email cihs@hvcc.edu with your counselor’s email so we can follow up.
• Your high school contact will approve or deny your request.
  • If denied, you’ll be notified.
  • If approved and seats are available, your status will change to “Registered.”

Note: You are not officially registered until your status in Voyager reads “Registered.”

• Online (Asynchronous):
  Fully virtual, with no set meeting times. You must meet deadlines, but you do not attend live sessions. This is not self-paced.
• Remote:
  Fully virtual with scheduled meeting times (live online sessions). Attendance and deadlines are required.
• Hybrid:
  A mix of instructional methods (usually in-person + online).
• In-Person/Traditional:
  Face-to-face instruction in a classroom. Includes courses held at your high school.

The modality is listed in Voyager when you apply for classes—on the right-hand side, under course dates.

Most CIHS courses are entry-level and have no prerequisites, so this field will often be blank.

If a course has prerequisites, they’ll be clearly listed in the course information.

Example:
To register for MATH 180, you must have already completed MATH 160 or MATH 170. 
A college-level precalculus course is acceptable, but a high school-level precalculus course does not fulfill this requirement.

What is a Certificate of Residence (COR)?
All students—including minors and high schoolers—who reside in New York State must submit a Certificate of Residence (COR).

• CORs must be obtained no sooner than 60 days before your registration date.
• They are due by the tuition deadline listed in the registration calendar.

How to Obtain and Submit Your COR

• Rensselaer County students should fill out the CIHS Certificate of Residence for Rensselaer County form (PDF), sign it and submit it within the Certificate of Residence link on .
  • After submission, check your �鶹Ӱ�� Webmail for next steps.
  • The process in not complete until you receive a confirmation email stating that your COR has been accepted.
• Students outside of Rensselaer County must follow the directions listed on the NYS County & Local Offices for Certificates of Residence webpage. Once you receive the approved certificate from your county, submit it within the Certificate of Residence link on .
  • After submission, check your �鶹Ӱ�� Webmail for next steps.
  • The process in not complete until you receive a confirmation email stating that your COR has been accepted.
• If you live outside of New York state but within the United States, please email cihs@hvcc.edu to have this requirement waived.

Note: IDs, transcripts, and other documents are not valid Certificates of Residence.

Students must upload their own COR to Voyager as shown below.

How do I pay for my College in the High School course(s)?

• Per Cashier’s Office policy: Payment cannot be made over the phone.

Payment Guidelines

• Non-resident tuition will appear on your bill until your COR is received and processed.
• After registration and COR submission, you can pay using the options below.
• It may take up to 48 hours for your bill to be updated.
  • If the term is more than eight weeks away, it may take longer.
• The 2025–2026 CIHS tuition rate is $70 per credit.
  • There are no additional fees for CIHS courses.

Payment Options

1. Online through WIReD:
   Log in to and log in using your �鶹Ӱ�� username and password.
   Step-by-step:
   • Select the Enrollment, Financial Aid, Student Accounts and Student Services tab.
   • Select Registration > Confirm Registration, and choose the appropriate term.
   • Select Make a Payment or Sign Up for a Payment Plan.
     • �鶹Ӱ�� accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
   • A confirmation receipt will be emailed to your �鶹Ӱ�� Webmail.
2. In person at the Cashier’s Office:
   1. Bring a photo ID.
   2. Family members may pay on your behalf only if they bring a copy of your bill.

How do I drop or withdraw from a course?

Before dropping or withdrawing, it’s recommended that you speak with both your instructor and high school counselor.

Steps to Drop or Withdraw

1. Log in to and select the “Drop/WD Requests” tile.
   • CIHS courses cannot be dropped in WIReD.
2. Select “Submit New Request” and select the course you want to drop/withdraw from.
   • If dropping/withdrawing from all courses in a term (e.g., Fall 2025), note that in the “Message to Registrar’s Office” field.

Important Notes:

• Telling your instructor does not count as officially dropping/withdrawing.
• You will not be automatically dropped for if you stop attending.
• If you stop attending without officially withdrawing by the deadline, you’ll still receive a final grade.

Students can request an official copy of their transcript through the Registrar’s Office.

The College in the High School (CIHS) program is open to current high school students.

• While the program is primarily designed for 11th and 12th graders, students may begin participating as early as the summer before 9th grade, with approval from their high school or school district.
• Graduated students are not eligible.
  (For example, a student who graduates in Spring 2026 cannot enroll in a Summer 2026 CIHS course.)

Homeschool Students

Yes, homeschool students are welcome to participate!

When creating your Voyager account:

• Do not enter "Homeschool" as your high school.
• Instead, enter the name of the school district, BOCES, or other reporting entity to which you submit your quarterly/annual reports.
• This entity will be contacted for course approval and must be someone other than a parent (e.g., a district administrator or BOCES representative).

1. Create a Voyager Account and Request Your Course(s) at 
   After creating and logging into your account on Voyager, you will be able to review available courses available online/remote and/or within your high school. After you select the course(s) you wish to register for, a notification will be sent to your high school official requesting their approval. Once approved, you will be registered for the course(s) and can proceed to submit a certificate of residence and pay your tuition bill.
   NOTES:
   • If you are a homeschooled student, please review specific directions in the Voyager FAQs on the Voyager Information Center webpage prior to creating your account.
   • If you have created a Voyager account in a past semester, please login to Voyager using your �鶹Ӱ�� credentials. Forgot your username or password? Visit the to request help. 
   • Your registration request will not be processed until approved by your high school contact. You can view the status of your requested class(es) by selecting “My Class Application(s)” under the Apply for Classes tab on Voyager.
   • If you have questions about your pending course requests, contact your high school guidance office and/or teacher.
2. Submit Certificate of Residence and Pay Tuition Bill
   All students residing in New York State must submit a Certificate of Residence. Certificates of Residence must be obtained no sooner than 60 days prior to the date you register for classes and are due by the tuition due date listed on the registration calendar.
   Tuition bills are mailed on a weekly basis beginning approximately 60 days prior to the start of class, and continuing until two to three weeks prior to the start of class. If we do not receive your registration before our final billing run for the term, you may view and pay the bill online via WIReD. 
   NOTES:
   • Rensselaer County students should fill out the College in the High School Certificate of Residence for Rensselaer County form (PDF), sign it and submit it within the Certificate of Residence link on Voyager.
   • Students outside of Rensselaer County must follow the directions listed on the NYS County & Local Offices for Certificates of Residence webpage. Once you receive the approved certificate from your county, submit it within the Certificate of Residence link on Voyager.
   • If you live outside of New York state but within the United States, please email cihs@hvcc.edu to have this requirement waived.

   • Payment may be made via Discover, MasterCard or Visa when paying online via WIReD.
3. Submit Immunization Records
   NOTE: The following is only applicable if enrolled in on-campus or Interactive Videoconferencing courses totaling six or more credits.
   Hudson Valley, in accordance with New York State law, requires you to provide immunization records to the college’s Health Services Office.

How can I get college credit for my high school classes and what can I do with it?
When you are discussing your schedule with your guidance staff, ask if any of your classes are available for college credit. If they are, you must register for these courses via Voyager during the posted registration period.
NOTE: �鶹Ӱ�� is unable to back-date registration for students who decide they’d like college credit after the registration deadline.

Do these courses count if I transfer to another college?
Yes, College in the High School courses appear on your official �鶹Ӱ�� transcript just like any other �鶹Ӱ�� class.

Most colleges and universities accept transfer credit, but policies vary.

• We recommend confirming transfer eligibility with the institution you plan to attend.
• Most schools require a grade of C or higher for transfer.
• For questions about specific colleges, contact cihs@hvcc.edu.

When you apply to college, you will be asked if you have any previous college credit. College credit that you earn by registering through �鶹Ӱ�� will be documented on a college transcript. You may use this credit at Hudson Valley or transfer it to another college pending their evaluation. You should request a copy of your transcript be forwarded from the Registrar's Office directly to any colleges you apply to.

What if I don't want the college credit?
If you do not want the college credit, simply do not register via Voyager. Or, if already registered, you can choose not to pay your bill and you will automatically be removed from the course.
NOTE: If you have registered for more than one course within a particular term and opt to pay for only one course, failure to pay for the second course will NOT relieve you of tuition liability for subsequent courses within the term. You must notify the Registrar's Office, in writing via your �鶹Ӱ�� email account, of your intent to drop subsequent courses within a particular term.

How long do I have to decide if I want the college credit?
You have until the deadline for payment to decide. This date is printed on the bill you receive. If you change your mind after you have submitted the payment, please refer to the refund, add/drop and withdrawal policies. Refer to the appropriate registration calendar for the specific semester for the deadline dates.

Tuition

• Tuition for the 2025-2026 academic year College in the High School courses is $70 per credit.
  To figure out the cost of the course, multiply the number of credits of the course by the tuition per credit hour.
  For example: 3-credit hour course: $70 x 3 = $210
• No cost for Summer 2025 College in the High School classes!
  All expenses – tuition, books and fees – for summer College in the High School classes are funded by a college scholarship.
  Note: 
  • The scholarship covers up to eight credits.
  • Those who are fully registered by June 26 will automatically have their textbooks shipped or eBooks emailed to their �鶹Ӱ�� account; after this date textbooks/eBooks are available for pick-up in the Viking's Cove Bookstore.

Refund Policy
All refunds must be applied for in writing to the Registrar's Office. The date your correspondence is received by the college is the effective date for the refund calculation. Refunds are based on the official starting date of the semester, not on the student's actual class attendance. Refunds will be granted according to the �鶹Ӱ�� refund schedule.
NOTE: Official notification of withdrawal is required. Not attending class, informing the instructor of withdrawal, or disputing tuition payment DOES NOT constitute official withdrawal and WILL NOT change tuition liability. Students should allow two to three weeks for refund claims to be mailed. For a list of refund deadlines, please refer to the appropriate registration calendar for the specific semester.

Add/Drop
A student may request in writing to add or drop a course by the authorized Add/Drop deadline, which can be found on the registration calendar. Drop requests can be made in Voyager within the Drop/Withdrawal Requests tab, or by emailing registrar@hvcc.edu from your �鶹Ӱ�� email address. A course dropped during this time will not appear on an official transcript. If you add a course, tuition liability is immediately incurred. The course will not drop for non-payment.

Course Withdrawal
A student may withdraw from a course, receiving a grade of "W," after the Add/Drop period has ended. Students must request in writing to withdraw from a course by the authorized withdrawal deadline, which can be found on the registration calendar. Withdrawal requests can be made by emailing registrar@hvcc.edu from your �鶹Ӱ�� email address. Discontinuance of class attendance or notice to the instructor does not constitute authorized withdrawal.
NOTE: Withdrawal from a course may affect academic standing and/or financial aid eligibility.

Scholarships are available to College in the High School students who qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program and are available (based on the availability of funding) for fall, spring and full-year classes. While scholarships will cover the total amount of the course tuition, students may be responsible for the purchase of textbooks and/or required materials.

Applications for the Free and Reduced Lunch Scholarship are entered on behalf of the student by your high school guidance contact who reviews/approves course requests. Further details on how they may request this are available on the Voyager Information Center under the “How-to Instructions for School Administrators” section.

Computer Access

Students must have access to a computer with an internet connection that meets the minimum system and browser requirements. Courses are managed in D2L Brightspace. Review the  to make sure you are using a supported device and Internet browser. You must also be able to utilize the �鶹Ӱ�� WebMail/Outlook email system to communicate with faculty and staff at Hudson Valley.

Your �鶹Ӱ�� username and password is generated and sent to your personal email within 30 minutes after you create an account on Voyager.
NOTE: After your �鶹Ӱ�� username is generated, you will use these credentials to login to all �鶹Ӱ�� systems including Voyager, WIReD, WebMail/Outlook and Brightspace. Access to these systems is available on the Students webpage. Read more about the �鶹Ӱ�� username and password on the .

Online Course Expectations

You must be able to budget your time and priorities. Online learning courses are NOT self-paced. They follow the semester calendar for registration, mid-terms, finals, etc. Homework and other assignments, tests and quizzes are due on a regular basis. Attendance and participation are measured by how often you log into the course and by completion of required learning activities, assignments, quizzes and tests. You can access the course at your convenience to complete your coursework each week following your class syllabus.

Instructional methods will depend on the course, but for most courses, all tests and finals as well as all assignments will be done online. Students will be expected to log on frequently and interact with their fellow students and the instructor.

Textbooks

Students in online courses may need to purchase textbooks. For textbook information, please visit the Bookstore webpage, email vikingscove@hvcc.edu or call (518) 629-7157.

Students with documented disabilities and medical conditions are encouraged to access services at the college by registering with the Center for Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT) to discuss their particular needs for accommodations.

How do I get my grades?
�鶹Ӱ�� posts all mid-term and final grades in WIReD instead of mailing grade reports. If you need help accessing your grades, contact the WIReD help desk at (518) 629-4574.

What is the policy on academic standing if I take a College in the High School course?
If you plan to attend �鶹Ӱ�� in the future, your success in your College in the High School course(s) will be considered when determining future matriculation, financial aid and athletic eligibility. Your academic standing may be affected by grades of "W" (course withdrawal), "F" (failure) or "Z" (absent without withdrawal). If you are considering withdrawing from a course, or uncertain whether to complete a course, please contact the Registrar's Office to discuss any possible ramifications.
